The Castle
The hot guts?
The name “Cran Chaud” comes straight from the neighborhood. Long before the presbytery and the Eudists, this area was already a place of passage and use for the First Nations, especially the Ilnu. They used this natural notch — a slope exposed to the sun — to dry the hides. The natural warmth of the cran made it an ideal place for this ancestral know-how. A space where sun, rock and dry air worked smoothly.
Later, the Cran Chaud district, in the Chicoutimi Basin, inherited this name, which has become a popular and evocative place name.
Today, it is an urban and bright castle hotel, made for dreamers, readers, lovers of calm or strollers who are not afraid to get off the beaten track.
